Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB)
The Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB) is a non-profit organization representing the biomedical engineering community in Spain. Its mission is to improve the health, wealth, and wellbeing of Spanish citizens through the application of biomedical engineering (BME).
SEIB belongs to the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering as well as to the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering & Science as the Spanish society representing biomedical engineering in these international institutions. SEIB is the authorized voice and advocate for the value of BME in Spanish society and aims at fostering BME education; providing leadership in research and technology innovation; and promoting the interdisciplinary collaboration of BME engineers with healthcare professionals, patients, and citizens for the benefit of society.
SEIB members are members of academic institutions, research centers, and industry and healthcare institutions working in all areas of BME (bioelectronics, physiological system modeling, telemedicine, biomechanics, biomedical signal processing, medical imaging, bioinformatics, biomaterials, etc.).
One of the main SEIB activities is the organization of its annual congress (CASEIB) as the Spanish scientific and industrial forum to disseminate among research groups, students, companies, and institutions the latest works and advances of Spanish research. In 2022, CASEIB will celebrate its 40th anniversary.
