Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Power electronic devices (i.e., devices that change energy parameters) are among the most widely used technologies in both industry and everyday life. Modern society is increasingly dependent on electronic devices such as mobile phones and laptops, which cannot operate properly without power electronic circuits, even if only for battery charging. Likewise, contemporary industry would not function without modern drive systems incorporating frequency converters.
Beyond the power circuit itself, power electronic systems also include complex control and regulation architectures. Currently, control algorithms are implemented through performed the electronic subsystem of the device, typically managed by programmable platforms offering high operating speeds and substantial computational capability. Emerging application demands continuously drive the need for more efficient and advanced integrated circuits capable of meeting stringent performance requirements. Alongside hardware developments, software remains equally critical, as new control algorithms require hardware-intensive platforms that ensure adequate speed and security.
In the current geopolitical context, cybersecurity has become an issue of growing importance. Power electronic systems must therefore exhibit sufficient resilience to cyber threats, particularly in applications related to renewable energy sources.
This Special Issue aims to collect original research articles presenting recent advances in integrated circuits, sensors, and integrated components, as well as developments in control, monitoring, and security algorithms implemented in modern power electronic devices.
The topics covered in this Special Issue include the following:
- New programmable systems used in converter control systems;
- Control algorithms implemented in new solutions;
- Protection in power electronic systems;
- Implementation of safety functions in converters;
- Support for non-electrical sensors;
- Implementation of converter control systems in new integrated circuits;
- The process of integrating solutions;
- Cybersecurity in power electronic systems;
- Communication and data exchange between devices;
- PLC controllers and their communication with converter control systems;
- Increasing the speed of control systems;
- Advanced methods of thermal protection of systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
