Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Intelligent systems continue to advance rapidly, empowered by breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, autonomous decision-making, and data-centric computing. These technologies are transforming a wide range of domains, from healthcare and cybersecurity to smart cities and large-scale societal infrastructures.

This Special Issue seeks to present original research articles that introduce new theories, algorithms, system architectures, or experimental results in the field of intelligent systems. We particularly encourage contributions that demonstrate measurable advancements, practical implementations, or innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Machine learning and deep learning for intelligent systems;
  • Agentic AI, autonomous agents, and multi-agent intelligent systems;
  • AI alignment, safety, and trustworthy intelligent systems;
  • Intelligent sensing, perception, and data fusion;
  • Decision-making, reasoning, and adaptive or optimal control;
  • Embedded intelligence in IoT and cyber–physical systems;
  • Intelligent architectures for edge, fog, or distributed environments;
  • Intelligent systems for cybersecurity, threat detection, and resilience;
  • Intelligent systems for medical imaging, diagnostics, healthcare, and health informatics;
  • Smart city intelligence, including transportation, energy, and infrastructure management;
  • Context Aware AI;
  • Edge AI;
  • Human–AI interaction, explainability, and trust modeling;
  • Intelligent systems addressing societal-scale challenges, including sustainability, resource optimization, and public safety;
  • Security, robustness, and reliability in intelligent systems;
  • Failure cases of intelligent systems.

We look forward to receiving your original research contributions to this Special Issue and to showcasing the latest advancements shaping the future of intelligent systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
