Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue of Electronics, entitled “Intelligent Robotic Systems and Machine Vision.”
Intelligent robotic systems are playing an increasingly vital role in industrial automation, healthcare, and human–robot interaction, with growing demands for autonomy, adaptability, and precision. Meanwhile, the rise in machine vision has greatly enhanced robotic perception, enabling real-time understanding of complex environments. This Special Issue welcomes contributions in both intelligent robotics and machine vision, covering topics such as robotic control, human–robot collaboration, bio-signal processing, object detection, pose estimation, and 3D reconstruction.
The aim of this Special Issue is to explore the latest advances and innovations in intelligent robotic systems empowered by machine vision technologies. In particular, we seek to highlight systematic development, novel machine learning algorithms, sensor integration techniques, and intelligent control strategies that drive performance, adaptability, and autonomy across a range of robotic applications—from manufacturing and rehabilitation robotics to human-robot collaboration in complex environments. This Issue welcomes contributions that address key challenges such as intelligent robotic control, robust object detection and pose estimation, multi-modal signal processing (e.g., myoelectric and bio-signals), and real-time 3D reconstruction. By exploring emerging research in machine vision and intelligent robotics, this Special Issue aims to accelerate progress towards more capable, safe, and context-aware robotic systems for complex real-world tasks.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Systematic design of robot-assisted manufacturing;
- Intelligent control strategies for manufacturing/rehabilitation robotics;
- Applications of machine vision in robotic systems;
- Human-robot interaction and collaboration;
- Object detection and semantic segmentation;
- Bio-signal driven control for intelligent human-robot systems;
- Intelligent human interface with robotic applications;
- Vision-guided manufacturing process;
- Machine learning in robotics;
- Shared autonomy in human-robot collaborative scenario;
- Three-dimensional reconstruction for scene proprioception and understanding;
- Vision approach for challenging environments.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
