Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming a wide range of domains through intelligent automation, adaptive systems, and data-driven solutions. In particular, fields such as evolutionary computation, swarm intelligence, and deep learning are opening new frontiers in the design, optimization, and deployment of complex systems. Each of these AI paradigms—rooted in nature-inspired computation and large-scale data processing—offers powerful tools for solving complex, nonlinear, and dynamic problems across various engineering domains. This Special Issue aims to showcase recent advances, emerging trends, and innovative applications specifically within, or at the convergence of, these research areas. We welcome contributions that explore new theoretical models, hybrid AI frameworks, software/hardware implementations, and real-world applications where AI techniques improve the performance, efficiency, or intelligence of various systems (e.g., renewable energy, microelectronics, precision agriculture, and drug discovery, among others). Particularly encouraged are submissions that demonstrate practical impacts in areas such as computer vision, large language models, explainable AI, embedded systems, smart sensors, edge AI, autonomous robotics, swarm robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Internet of Drones (IoD), and Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT). Studies integrating evolutionary optimization or swarm-based heuristics with deep learning architectures—such as convolutional, recurrent, or transformer-based neural networks—are especially welcome. We invite original research articles, comprehensive reviews, short communications, and case studies from academia and industry alike. The goal is to foster cross-disciplinary innovation and to demonstrate how AI is driving the advancement and transformation of applications across diverse domains.

We look forward to your valuable contributions to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
