Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The landscape of Mobile application development is undergoing a dramatic transformation, driven by hardware advancements, pervasive connectivity (5G/6G) and the rapid integration of artificial intelligence. These technological leaps necessitate commensurate progress in human–computer interactions to ensure sophisticated systems remain usable, efficient and ethical. This Special Issue invites submissions that bridge the engineering disciplines of robust software creation with the cognitive science of user experience.
The overall focus of this topical collection is on synergistic advancements at the intersection of mobile computing architectures, cutting-edge software development methodologies and the resulting innovative user interfaces. The scope encompasses both the engineering aspects of application development and the behavioral and design principles that govern user engagement. The aim is to provide an in-depth review of modern mobile application development tools—their relevance to people's lifestyles and new interaction paradigms. This is important for outlining future trends and opportunities in smart technologies, as well as user expectations of them. We invite researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry, working in different fields, to send original articles and reviews. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Mobile application,
- Mobile UX/UI design,
- Accessibility in Mobile Apps,
- Cross-Platform Mobile Development,
- Low-Code/No-Code Platforms for Mobile Development,
- Human–computer interactions in mobile and wearable devices,
- Augmented reality/virtual reality in mobile applications,
- Voice user interface,
- Mobile games,
- Mobile learning
- Human–computer interactions for Mobile Development,
- Health-based mobile applications
- Problematic mobile phone use.
This collection will supplement existing literature by moving beyond isolated studies of either pure mobile software architecture or classical human–computer interactions. By focusing on the convergence of engineering solutions and user-centric design principles, this Special Issue provides essential insights for researchers seeking to optimize the performance, usability and impact of the smart mobile and wearable devices that permeate modern life.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
