Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue of Education Sciences will focus on how the fields of aesthetics, creativity, and emotional intelligence reciprocally influence and interact with each other and how these synergies can be applied to educational practices, methods, and environments. The journal seeks original empirical research—including quantitative and qualitative designs, as well as case studies and conceptual/theoretical papers—that explore the relationships between emotional intelligence (both trait and abilities), creative processes, and/or aesthetics with direct or implied applications for learning and schools. We welcome papers that address learning across different settings, from early childhood, primary to tertiary education, as well as workplace learning and skills training, and learning in informal settings (e.g., after school programs, museums, and cultural institutions). Submissions should focus on themes from each of the three domains of the Special Issue: (1) aesthetics, arts, and/or creativity; (2) emotional intelligence (broadly defined); and (3) education or learning (across contexts).

Suggested themes include (but are not limited to):

  • How aesthetics and/or arts can be used to develop EI in educational settings.
  • How EI can improve creativity and problem solving and how those skills can be built .
  • Innovative educational programs or approaches that utilize aesthetics, arts, creativity, and/or EI.
