Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Many women have a disturbed menstrual cycle. This has a negative impact on their daily lives, their health and their fertility. The abnormality may be intrinsic to the hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian axis or maybe the consequence of a general dysfunction (e.g., polycystic ovaritis) or an endocrinopathy (e.g., thyroid abnormality).

The recording of the clinical signs (cycle tracking) that accompany the menstrual cycle (bleeding, cervical mucus discharge and thermal shift) by the woman herself has renewed medical practice in fertility restoration. It helps in the aetiological and differential diagnosis, in choosing the best time to carry out biological assays and administer treatments, and in monitoring their effect.

This Special Issue of Diagnostics updates our knowledge of pathogenesis, diagnosis and management and clarifies the central role of cycle tracking in this process.
