Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Laboratory testing remains an essential cornerstone in the clinical approach to endocrine diseases, from simple automated tests for glucose in diabetes, to highly advanced mass-spectrometry techniques used to test for renin-aldosterone ratios for hyperaldosteronism screening, to dynamic function testing. Accurate interpretation, alongside clinical correlation, ensures the effective diagnosis and proper management of endocrine disease. Indeed, there are many success stories in the laboratory testing of endocrine diseases that have greatly impacted patient care, such as the continued efforts to harmonize HbA1c testing across different platforms that have greatly assisted in the management of diabetics. However, the landscape of hormone testing is continually evolving, with new insights into the interpretation of hormone tests and new generations/methodologies being introduced for existing assays. It is thus especially important to stay abreast of the latest developments in this field, and we present several publications in this Special Issue to assist clinicians and laboratorians alike in this endeavor.
