Coating Materials and Technologies for Thin-Film Transistors and Flexible Electronics Circuits

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Our Special Issue aims to explore the innovative applications of coatings in enhancing the performance and durability of thin-film transistors (TFTs) and flexible electronics circuits. Coatings play a crucial role in protecting electronic components from environmental factors such as moisture, heat, and mechanical stress, thereby extending their operational lifespan and reliability. Moreover, advanced coating techniques enable functional enhancements such as improved electrical conductivity, optical properties, and surface energy management, which are crucial for optimizing device performance. This Issue seeks to gather original research and reviews that highlight novel coating materials, deposition methods, and surface engineering strategies tailored for TFTs and flexible electronics. Topics of interest include but are not limited to nanostructured coatings, self-healing materials, barrier coatings, and interface engineering for flexible substrates. By addressing these aspects, the Special Issue aims to foster advancements in the field, paving the way for next-generation electronics with enhanced functionality, durability, and applicability in diverse technological domains.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Recent advancements in coating materials and technologies for TFTs and flexible electronics circuits.
  2. Experimental and theoretical studies on the impact of coatings on the performance and durability of TFTs and flexible circuits.
  3. Coatings for enhancing the conductivity, transparency, and flexibility of TFTs and flexible electronics.
  4.  Novel coating strategies for improving the mechanical stability and chemical resistance of TFTs and flexible circuits.
  5. Coatings for thermal management and heat dissipation in TFTs and flexible electronics.
  6. Investigating the interface between the coating and the electronic material, and its effect on device performance.
  7. Coatings for biocompatibility and wearability in flexible electronics and TFTs for biomedical applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
