Two-Dimensional Materials and Films

Dear Colleagues,

Recent progresses in two-dimensional (2D) materials and films have offered great possibility to develop novel functional devices with outstanding electronic, optical, optoelectronic and mechanical performances. Much effort has been made in both experimental and theoretical studies on 2D materials and films to understand the sophisticated nature of 2D materials and design advanced functional nanodevices. In this Special Issue, we welcome high-quality and original research articles focusing on 2D materials and films with premium physical properties.

In particular, the topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• First-principle density functional theory calculations;
• Ab-initio molecular dynamics simulations;
• Classical molecular dynamics simulations of thermal and mechanical properties;
• Synthesis and controllable growth of 2D materials and films;
• Fabrication and construction of 2D heterostructures;
• Characterization of 2D materials and heterostructures;
• Manipulation and engineering of 2D materials and films;
• Charge and heat transport in 2D materials and heterostructures;
• Structural, electronic, optical, magnetic and thermal properties;
• 2D materials for electronics, photonics, optoelectronics and energy applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
