Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Orthodontic treatment for patients with craniofacial disorders, such as cleft lip and/or palate or Robin sequence, is an ever-evolving field. It encompasses a wide range of approaches, from initiating therapy immediately after birth using palatal plates to the comprehensive interdisciplinary rehabilitation process extending into adulthood. These complexities make treatment particularly challenging.
The integration of CAD/CAM technologies into orthodontics has revolutionized the treatment of these patients. This technology enables the precise manufacturing of custom devices, enhancing treatment outcomes in terms of safety, time and cost efficiency, quality, and overall feasibility.
This Special Issue aims to highlight interdisciplinary treatment outcomes for patients with craniofacial disorders, explore innovative and visionary approaches in their rehabilitation, and showcase advancements in the design and production of therapeutic devices. It will also address recent technical developments, potential pitfalls, and the lessons we can learn from our interdisciplinary colleagues.
We invite contributions from medical and technical professionals at the forefront of oral rehabilitation for these patients, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in this critical field.
