Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neurodevelopmental disorders emerge in early childhood and persist throughout life. They often share overlapping genetic, neurobiological, and environmental risk factors, resulting in complex clinical profiles that affect communication, language, and literacy development. These challenges often hinder academic achievement and future occupational opportunities, while difficulties in social communication may further intensify feelings of social withdrawal and isolation. Recent advances in neurodevelopmental science have deepened our understanding of the interplay between biological, cognitive, and environmental factors shaping these developmental trajectories. This Special Issue will highlight cutting-edge research on communication and language development across neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental language disorder (DLD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), developmental dyslexia, and related correlates.
We invite empirical studies, systematic reviews, and theoretical papers addressing early identification, intervention efficacy, literacy acquisition, and cognitive–linguistic mechanisms underlying communication difficulties. Interdisciplinary and cross-linguistic contributions are especially encouraged, to inform personalized assessment and treatment approaches.
