Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In this new era of technification, artificial intelligence, big data, and electrochemical sensors and their systems have become powerful analytical tools for detecting, quantifying and managing a wide range of variables in environmental, food, biomedical, industrial, and energy-related applications. Their inherent advantages—including high sensitivity, short response times, relatively simple instrumentation, and the possibility of miniaturization and integration into portable or embedded systems—make them excellent candidates for on-site and real-time analyses. Moreover, important advances in electrode materials, surface modification, nanostructures, and signal processing have significantly improved the selectivity, stability, and robustness of the electrochemical-based sensing systems, making them the leading choice for a wide range of applications.​

This Special Issue aims to gather original research articles and reviews dealing with the design, fabrication, characterization, and applications of electrochemical sensors and biosensors. Contributions may address, but are not limited to, new electrode architectures and transducer materials, innovative strategies for analyte recognition, multi-analyte detection, sensor arrays, flow-based and lab-on-a-chip configurations, and data-driven approaches for signal treatment and interpretation. Studies concerning the application of these sensors in environmental monitoring, food quality, safety, control, clinical and pharmaceutical analyses, industrial process monitoring, and energy systems will be particularly welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Chemosensors is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
