Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Functionalized nanomaterials have found a strong position among various materials suitable for modern catalysis due to their unique, tunable physicochemical properties, high specific surface area, abundant active sites, and exceptional catalytic performance. Recent advances in nanotechnology have enabled the rational design and surface engineering of a wide range of nanomaterials, including metal and metal oxide nanoparticles, carbon-based nanomaterials, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), MXenes, and hybrid nanocomposites. These functional materials have demonstrated outstanding potential in heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, environmental remediation, wastewater treatment, energy conversion, and sustainable chemical processes.

We are pleased to invite the research community to contribute to this Special Issue, titled "Functionalized Nanomaterials for Advanced Catalytic Applications", which aims to highlight recent advances in the synthesis, functionalization, characterization, mechanistic understanding, and versatile commercial applications of nanostructured catalysts. This Special Issue seeks to provide a comprehensive platform for reporting innovative catalytic materials and technologies that address current challenges in environmental protection, clean energy production, and green chemistry.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and review articles are welcome. Research topics include, but are not limited to, the synthesis and surface functionalization of nanomaterials; nanocomposite catalysts; photocatalysis; electrocatalysis; heterogeneous catalysis; catalytic degradation of pollutants; wastewater treatment; CO₂ conversion; hydrogen production; advanced oxidation processes; catalyst stability and recyclability; catalytic reaction mechanisms; and sustainable catalytic technologies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
