Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Heterogeneous catalysis plays a pivotal role in various industrial processes, including chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining, and environmental remediation. This field of research focuses on catalysts that exist in a distinct phase from the reactants, typically in solid form, facilitating reactions in liquid or gas phases. Recent advancements in nanostructured catalysts and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have significantly promoted catalytic activity, selectivity, and stability, thereby addressing sustainability challenges in energy conversion and and environmental remediation.

The primary goal is to address key issues in designing and applying heterogeneous catalysts for sustainable reactivity. This includes exploring innovative catalyst design strategies, understanding the role of interfaces in catalytic processes, and integrating renewable resources into catalytic applications. Developments in nanotechnology, particularly the utilization of noble metal nanoparticles and advanced characterization techniques, present new opportunities for enhancing catalytic efficiency.

This Research Topic invites contributions on various aspects of heterogeneous catalysis, including but not limited to the design and synthesis of novel catalysts, the significance of interfaces in catalytic reactions, and sustainability assessments of catalytic processes. We welcome original research articles, review papers, and short communications that align with these themes. Researchers are also encouraged to share findings that bridge theoretical works with practical applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
