Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers remain among the most complex and heterogeneous malignancies, spanning the entire digestive tract from the esophagus to the colorectum. Over the past five years, remarkable advances in molecular profiling, immunotherapy, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and perioperative systemic strategies have reshaped the clinical landscape and improved patient outcomes.
This Special Issue of Cancers, titled “New Clinical Insights into Gastrointestinal Cancers,” aims to highlight these breakthroughs and provide a platform for clinicians and researchers to share emerging evidence, evolving paradigms, and future directions in the management of GI malignancies. We warmly invite submissions of original research articles, clinical trials, translational studies, and comprehensive reviews.
This Special Issue will cover, but is not limited to, the following key areas that have transformed the field over the past five years:
- Immunotherapy and biomarker-driven approaches (especially for dMMR/MSI-H colorectal cancers and PD-L1–positive or MSI-H gastric cancers);
 - Circulating Tumor DNA (ctDNA)-guided adjuvant management;
 - Total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) in rectal cancer;
 - Novel targets and emerging cellular immunotherapies (such as CLDN18.2-directed antibodies and early-phase CAR-T therapies);
 - Artificial intelligence in endoscopy and surgery;
 - Innovative strategies for peritoneal metastases, including PIPAC and intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

We look forward to your valuable contributions that will advance our collective understanding and shape the next generation of GI cancer care.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
