Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Globally, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosis and the fifth leading cause of cancer death in men, accounting for over 1,460,000 cases and 396,000 deaths in 2022. Due solely to population aging and growth, the burden is projected to rise to approximately 2.4 million cases and 712,000 deaths by 2040. However, patients affected by prostate cancer have a high survival rate if treated promptly with suitable interventions. Radical prostatectomy remains the standard treatment for localized prostate cancer, even if it is affected by postoperative complications such as erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence. The employment of robotic technology in prostate cancer surgery facilitated access to the deep pelvic location of the prostate and improved the surgical precision. Therefore, robot-assisted radical prostatectomy has considerably improved perioperative as well as functional outcomes, enabling better preservation of neurovascular bundles and the peri-prostatic structures, without affecting the oncological outcomes.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to improving the knowledge about radical prostatectomy for the urologic community.

This Special Issue aims to focus on extraperitoneal and transperitoneal access of radical prostatectomy, tips and tricks of robotic radical prostatectomy, real advantages and disadvantages of robotic application, new systems of robotic prostate surgery, new techniques of robotic radical prostatectomy, complications and problems related to radical prostatectomy, the role of radical prostatectomy in advanced prostate cancer, functional outcomes in terms of urinary continence and sexual potency.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome.

I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
