Dear Colleagues,
Rapid developments in digital technologies are transforming the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sectors, enabling more data-driven, efficient, and sustainable project delivery. Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twins (DTs), Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced data analytics are reshaping how infrastructure and buildings are designed, constructed, and managed throughout their lifecycle. These developments are creating new opportunities to improve productivity, safety, resilience, and sustainability across the construction industry.
This Special Issue, “Digital Transformation and Innovation in Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) Management, Practices, and Processes” seeks to advance both theoretical and applied research exploring the role of digital technologies in transforming construction practices in both the United Kingdom and internationally. Contributions are invited that examine the development, implementation, and evaluation of DTs, AI, machine learning, and other emerging technologies that support innovation in construction management and project delivery.
Original research articles, reviews, conceptual papers, theoretical considerations, case studies, and pragmatically applied evidence based studies that address topics including digital innovation in construction processes, AI driven decision support systems, data enabled project management, smart construction technologies, and integrated digital platforms across the building lifecycle are welcomed. Papers that provide empirical evidence, theoretical frameworks, or practical insights into digital transformation within the AEC sector are particularly encouraged. The aim of this Special Issue is to further knowledge, challenge current ways of thinking, and evidence construction industry best and recommended practice.
This Special Issue aims to provide a multidisciplinary platform that fosters collaboration between researchers and practitioners and contributes to advancing digital innovation in construction management worldwide.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
