Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder, characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity found in all age groups. The condition is common, impairing, and responsive to both psychological and medication treatment. ADHD is also often associated with other difficulties such as problems with emotional regulation and executive function. This Special Issue aims to collate publications by scholars in the field that address key questions on the cutting edge of current research and practice.
In the area of assessment, this Special Issue aims to address questions such as how to manage obtaining collateral information, the use of standardized measures and interviews, and strategies for effective differential diagnosis and recognition of comorbidity. This Special Issue is also interested in receiving articles looking at new approaches to areas of comorbidity that can be particularly challenging, such as the relationship between ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, mood and anxiety disorders, and sleep. We are interested in new developments in psychological treatments, such as CBT for executive function, and/or digital approaches. We welcome the submission of reviews of strategies to optimize medication and medication combinations, the role of non-stimulants and new medications, and the impact of medication on function and long-term outcomes. We hope to provide guidance on the implementation of new treatment strategies and suggestions for working with special populations such as preschoolers, college students, and women.
