Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Microbial-fuel-cell-based biosensors offer a unique combination of benefits that makes them an attractive technology for various applications. Firstly, they have high sensitivity, allowing them to detect low concentrations of target substances in a sample. Secondly, they have low costs of operation due to the use of renewable energy sources and the ability to use inexpensive materials. Finally, they have a low environmental impact, as they do not require harmful chemicals or generate waste products. These advantages make microbial-fuel-cell-based biosensors a promising technology for environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and food safety analyses. Therefore, this Special Issue aims to present cutting-edge fundamental and applied research activities in microbial-fuel-cell-based biosensing, showcasing innovative technologies, methods, and novel integrated devices for next-generation environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and food safety analyses. We invite submissions that will help advance research in the field of microbial-fuel-cell-based biosensing technologies.

Biosensors is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
