Dear Colleagues,
Additive manufacturing, or 3D-printing, is a rapidly evolving and highly promising technology with growing applications in the field of biosensors. 3D-printing techniques offer many advantages over traditional fabrication methods, enabling the rapid and cost-effective fabrication of micro- to macroscale components with complex geometries from a variety of materials, without requiring cleanroom environments. These appealing capabilities pave the way for developing next-generation biosensing devices and fabricating complex parts to support biosensors advancement.
The aim of this Special Issue, titled “3D-Printing for Biosensors”, is to showcase the latest advancements in the field.
This Special Issue’s scope includes, but is not limited to:
- New materials, designs and fabrication techniques for 3D-printed transducers;
- Surface-modification strategies for effective immobilization of bioreceptors on 3D-printed surfaces;
- Integrated/multiplexed biosensors fabricated through 3D-printing technology;
- Development/validation of advanced biosensors based on 3D-printing technology;
- 3D-printed components and devices to support performance enhancement of biosensors.
Our focus includes both electrochemical and non-electrochemical biosensors. Both definitions of biosensors, i.e., (i) sensors where biomolecules such as enzymes, antibodies, DNA/RNA, aptamers or biomimics serve as recognition elements, (ii) sensors for biological signals monitoring, will be accepted. Original research and review papers, with fundamental and/or applied aspects, are welcome. There are no restrictions in the application fields.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biosensors is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
