Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Nano-biosensors have advanced rapidly in recent years, yet a significant gap persists between laboratory-level proof-of-concept and reliable deployment in real-world clinical, food, and environmental settings. This Special Issue aims to bridge this divide by gathering interdisciplinary studies that emphasize method validation, on-site implementation, and regulatory compliance. We seek original research, reviews, and short communications addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Multiplexed point-of-care and on-site detection for clinical biomarkers, foodborne hazards, and environmental contaminants
- Engineered biorecognition elements, including aptamers, nanobodies, molecularly imprinted polymers, and synthetic receptors
- Advanced transduction mechanisms such as photoelectrochemical, field-effect transistor, plasmonic, and thermal sensing
- Microfluidic integration, nanomaterial-based signal amplification, and CRISPR-enabled nucleic acid detection
- Smartphone-readout and portable/wearable systems empowered by artificial intelligence and machine learning for on-site signal processing, calibration, pattern recognition, and decision support
We especially encourage submissions that compare multiple sensing strategies or span clinical, food, and environmental application domains. Contributions must be original and not under concurrent review elsewhere. All manuscripts will undergo single-blind peer review. We look forward to your contributions to this timely collection.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biosensors is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
