Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues:

Biofilms are specialized collections of microorganisms growing on a solid surface.  Microorganisms including bacteria and yeast prefer to grow as biofilms. Biofilm growth consists of 4 stages: reversible and irreversible attachment, biofilm growth and detachment.  Many different anti-biofilm treatments have been studied to prevent biofilm growth.  Because beverages can deliver antimicrobials directly to biofilm-covered surfaces, the study of the effect of beverages on biofilm growth is important. This Special Issue will cover the effects of different beverages on biofilm attachment, growth and detachment.
