Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Following the successful completion of the first edition of the Special Issue “Psychoeducation and Early Intervention”, which featured the publication of numerous high-quality and impactful scientific contributions, the critical role of early interventions in the treatment and prevention of stress, anxiety, and mood disorders has become increasingly evident. Early intervention has also emerged as a key strategy in preventing complex and highly prevalent phenomena such as cyberbullying and intimate partner violence among young people.

Within this evolving framework, digitalized, immersive, and personalized interventions have gained growing relevance, as they offer flexible, timely, and scalable responses to the emerging mental health needs of younger generations.

For this second edition, the integration of a transdiagnostic and personalized perspective has, therefore, become a central focus, leading to a revision of the Special Issue title to “Early Intervention, Transdiagnostic and Personalized Approach in Youth Mental Health”.

The adoption of transdiagnostic and personalized approaches in clinical practice and, more broadly, in early intervention frameworks is particularly warranted given the high levels of comorbidity, the multidimensional nature of psychopathology, and the complex interplay of shared risk factors and psychological processes observed in youth populations. Early intervention programs and related settings grounded in a transdiagnostic framework enable the early identification and integrated management of complex psychosocial presentations, promoting prevention and treatment strategies that are flexible, timely, and highly responsive to individual needs.

In this context, the integration of digital and immersive tools—including online platforms, mobile applications, virtual reality, and blended interventions—represents a significant added value by enhancing accessibility, scalability, and user engagement. Moreover, these tools facilitate the early identification of at-risk populations across educational, university, community, and clinical settings, allowing psychoeducational interventions to be tailored to diverse vulnerability profiles along the health–illness continuum and supporting a preventive, transdiagnostic, and genuinely person-centered approach.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Behavioral Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
