Special Issue Information
Dear colleagues,
The expansion of low-cost, high-energy-density, and long-serving life energy storage applications remains a great challenge to improve the trade-off between global energy supply and demand, with intense technological significance for portable electronics, electric vehicles, and grid-scale energy storage. In this context, the incorporation of micro and nano- structured materials plays a key role in advanced energy storage devices realization, due to their exceptional and tunable properties, such as mechanical, electrical, high surface-to-volume ratio, etc.
The present Special Issue invites researchers to submit original research articles, letters, reviews and feature articles, and perspective views, on fundamental studies and the design and development of nanomaterials for energy storage and saving applications, including carbon, graphene, transition metal chalcogenides, transition metal carbides or MXenes, metal oxides, metal organic frameworks, and their composites. The present Special Issue of Batteries focuses on the demonstration of new insights, as well as the potential and challenges in the realization of various energy storage devices, such as batteries, capacitors, fuel cells, accumulators etc.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Nanomaterials design and synthesis;
- Electrode materials binders and electrolytes for batteries;
- Dual-ion batteries;
- Capacitors and supercapacitors;
- Fuel cells;
- Thermal energy storage;
- Chemical energy storage;
- Performance, lifetime, and degradation studies.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Batteries is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
