Technology-Inspired Design
This special issue belongs to the section “Applied Industrial Technologies“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With new technologies coming up, such as AI, big data, new materials, digitalization, etc., it will be possible to generate better design outcomes in terms of products, vehicles, buildings, systems, etc. These outcomes will be safer, more comfortable, and will provide new functionalities to wide ranges of users. Not only are we confronted with many new technologies, but there are also many developments regarding design processes, methods, and tools. These have profound impacts on the design teams, on manufacturing, and on supply chains. In this Special Issue, we are interested in case studies that demonstrate the application of new technologies as well as in new design processes that lead to better design outcomes. We are also interested in how designers and design engineers can be better equipped through various educational arrangements to take maximum advantage of the new developments.
This Special Issue is associated with the 5th International Conference on Design Engineering and Product Innovation (ICDEPI 2021). This conference will take place on 26–28 August 2022 in Amsterdam, Netherlands https://www.icdepi.org/. Conference contributions will be considered for the Special Issue, as well as other high-quality papers that address the topic of technology-inspired design.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
