Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Since the early 20th century, the rapid emergence of new technological advancements has led to an increase in the number of applications in mechatronic systems. The use of control systems has been instrumental in ensuring safety for various applications in the field. Designing control strategies for mechatronic systems can be challenging because of the various control objectives and design criteria that need to be achieved and met. In numerous fields of engineering, this class of systems has gained significant importance and seen widespread application. The success of such systems is largely due to their numerous technological applications. Although progress has been made in the control of these systems, significant challenges still remain. Solving complex problems and expanding the field of knowledge require new contributions employing various control strategies.

This Special Issue welcomes submissions of recent research on the control of mechantronic systems within this promising field. It aims to include a broad thematic range of papers covering recent applications of control systems.

Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Passivity-based control;
  • Port-controlled Hamiltonian systems;
  • Control based on immersion and invariance techniques;
  • Nonlinear control strategies;
  • Advanced control algorithms (PID, adaptive control, MPC, Back-Stepping Control, etc.);
  • Intelligent controllers (neural networks, machine learning, deep learning approaches, etc.);
  • Real-time control applications;
  • Real-time vision systems;
  • Practical challenges in implementation.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
