Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Precision machine tools are the cornerstone of modern advanced manufacturing, underpinning the production of high-value components across the aerospace, semiconductor, biomedical, and energy industries. As demands for higher accuracy, productivity, and reliability continue to grow, the intelligent design and precision control of machine tools face unprecedented challenges. Emerging technologies—such as digital twins, advanced sensing and artificial intelligence—are opening new avenues for modeling, predicting, and compensating machine tool errors throughout the entire lifecycle.
This Special Issue focuses on recent advances in innovative structural and mechanical design, error modeling and compensation, thermal/dynamic behavior analysis, digital twin technologies, and advanced control of machine tools. Both theoretical investigations and experimental studies that challenge current thinking, as well as practical engineering applications, are warmly encouraged. Through this collection, we hope to provide a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art developments and to inspire future research directions in this rapidly evolving field.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
