Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The field of medical and health informatics is rapidly evolving, driven by the integration of advanced technologies. These innovations are transforming how healthcare data are collected, analyzed, and used—leading to smarter decision-making, improved patient outcomes, and enhanced operational efficiency across healthcare systems.
This Special Issue on “Advanced Technologies in Medical/Health Informatics” aims to highlight recent advancements, breakthroughs, and novel applications in the domain of digital health and informatics. We welcome contributions that explore how technologies are enabling intelligent health information systems, real-time patient monitoring, predictive analytics, and data-driven care models. The topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- AI and Machine Learning in Health: Predictive modeling and decision support systems; natural language processing in clinical texts and EHRs; intelligent triaging, risk scoring, and population health analytics.
- Big Data and Cloud-Based Solutions: Scalable platforms for health data storage and processing; integration and analysis of structured and unstructured health data; interoperable data sharing frameworks and standards.
- Digital Health Platforms and Smart Devices: Remote patient monitoring using IoT and wearable sensors; mobile health (mHealth) applications and digital approaches.
- Data Privacy and Security in Digital Health Systems: Secure data transactions in healthcare; blockchain and data encryption in patient care.
- clinical informatics: clinical workflow optimization; data visualization and dashboards for clinical and operational procedures.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
