Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Photonics and laser technologies play a pivotal role in modern science and engineering, enabling advances in precision sensing, imaging, communications, metrology, and emerging quantum technologies. Ongoing progress in laser sources, materials, and photonic platforms has significantly improved system performance, functionality, and stability, opening new opportunities for both applied and fundamental research.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the Special Issue titled, “Advances in Photonics, Optics and Laser Technology.” This Special Issue aims to present recent developments across a broad range of topics in applied photonics and optics, including advances in laser and optical systems, photonic materials and devices, and light-based techniques for sensing, imaging, and measurement. Contributions addressing innovative concepts, enabling technologies, and practical applications are encouraged.
We welcome original research articles and review papers reporting state-of-the-art methodologies, novel instrumentation, and emerging applications. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Laser sources and laser systems, including stabilized, narrow-linewidth, and high-coherence lasers
- Nonlinear and ultrafast optics, including femtosecond and attosecond techniques
- Optical spectroscopy, sensing, and diagnostics for scientific, industrial, and environmental applications
- Photonic materials, metamaterials, and nanophotonics
- Integrated photonics and optical devices
- Polarimetry and polarization-based optical techniques
- High-precision interferometry, optical cavities, and laser stabilization
- Quantum optics and photonic technologies with applications in fundamental physics and precision measurements
By bringing together contributions from diverse research communities, this Special Issue aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange and accelerate the development and application of advanced photonic and laser-based technologies.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
