Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Analytical chemistry plays a fundamental role in research laboratories across academia, research institutes, healthcare, and industry. As scientific investigations continue to expand into increasingly complex fields, including pharmaceutical sciences, medicine, biochemistry, environmental science, food analysis, and agriculture, there is a growing need for analytical methods that are rapid, accurate, sensitive, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable. The continuous development of analytical methodologies is essential for addressing emerging analytical challenges while improving efficiency, reliability, and green laboratory practices.

High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) remains one of the most powerful and widely applied analytical techniques for the separation, identification, and quantification of chemical compounds. Ongoing advances in HPLC instrumentation, stationary phases, detection systems, data analysis, and method development continue to expand its capabilities. In addition, ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) and other modern chromatographic innovations have further enhanced analytical performance by improving resolution, sensitivity, speed, and solvent efficiency.

This Special Issue, ‘Advances in HPLC for Analytical Chemistry,’ aims to showcase recent developments and applications of HPLC-based analytical methods across a broad range of scientific disciplines. We welcome original research articles and review papers focusing on method development, optimization, validation, and application of HPLC and related liquid chromatographic techniques. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, pharmaceutical analysis, bioanalysis, environmental monitoring, food safety, forensic analysis, impurity profiling, stability-indicating methods, hyphenated techniques (e.g., HPLC–MS), green analytical chemistry, chemometric approaches, and the analysis of complex matrices.

Particular emphasis will be placed on innovative chromatographic solutions that improve analytical performance, enhance robustness and sustainability, or address challenging separations. Comparative studies evaluating conventional HPLC and advanced liquid chromatographic methodologies, including UPLC, are also encouraged. By bringing together high-quality contributions from researchers worldwide, this Special Issue aims to highlight current trends, emerging technologies, and future directions in HPLC for analytical chemistry.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
