Dear Colleagues,
With the increasing global demand for mineral and energy resources, mining engineering is facing multiple challenges related to safe and efficient resource extraction, rock mass stability, mine disaster prevention, and environmental protection. In particular, deep mining, complex geological conditions, and high-intensity resource exploitation may induce stress redistribution, surrounding rock deformation and failure, surface subsidence, water resource disturbance, ecological damage, and environmental risks. Therefore, the development of sustainable mining theories and technologies is vital for improving resource recovery, ensuring mine safety, and promoting the coordinated protection of the ecological environment. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for researchers and engineers to present recent advances, innovative methods, and practical applications related to sustainable mining, resource extraction, rock mechanics, mine safety, and environmental management. Original research articles and reviews are welcome and topics of interest include, but are not limited to, green mining, deep resource extraction, mining-induced stress evolution, rock fracture mechanisms, roadway surrounding rock stability, mine disaster monitoring and early warning, numerical simulation and physical modeling, backfill mining, ecological restoration, environmental impact assessment, and low-carbon mine construction. This Special Issue aims to provide theoretical support and technical references for the safe, efficient, green, and sustainable development of mineral resources.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
