Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to highlight innovative research, practical developments, and emerging applications in embedded electronics, Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced motor control systems. As smart devices, autonomous platforms, and interconnected systems continue to expand, there is growing demand for efficient embedded architectures, reliable communication technologies, and intelligent control methodologies. As AI adoption accelerates, datacenters and power grids face increasing pressure, making edge computing essential for gathering information and acting in real time.
This Special Issue welcomes studies involving the design, optimization, and implementation of embedded hardware and software. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- IoT-based sensor networks and wireless communication systems
- Low-power and energy-efficient embedded architectures
- Microcontroller- and SoC-based system design
- Cloud–edge integration and real-time data processing
- Motor control strategies including FOC, predictive and sensorless control
- Embedded control solutions for BLDC, PMSM, and induction motors
- Smart metering devices for electrical grids
Applications in renewable energy, smart grids, automation, and robotics. Research addressing system modeling, simulation, prototyping, and performance evaluation is also encouraged. Both original research articles and comprehensive reviews are welcome.
This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to share advances that will shape the next generation of intelligent, connected, and energy-efficient embedded and motor control systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
