Dear Colleagues,
Comprehending vehicle emission characteristics is essential for assessing environmental impact, formulating appropriate legislation, and devising focused initiatives to enhance air quality and mitigate climate change. This knowledge aids in accurately reporting local and global emission inventories to improve regional modeling accuracy. Short-lived climate forcers (SLCFs) are essential in models because they drive significant near-term warming and offer rapid mitigation opportunities.
This Special Issue centers on the formulation of vehicle emission factors (EFs) to enhance the accuracy of emission inventories. Specifically, it encourages investigation into EFs for SLCFs, fine particle matter both in mass and number, and BC/OC fractions from PM2.5.
This Special Issue aims to collate high-quality, original research articles or reviews focused on the following intersecting fields:
- Experimental vehicle EFs for the following compounds: CO, NMVOC, NOx, NH3, PM2.5, BC, EC, and OC.
- Empirical measurement of EFs, encompassing research utilizing dynamometer testing and portable emission measurement systems (PEMSs).
- Formulation of EFs derived from actual road driving data and including more stringent emission regulations.
- Case studies focused on the development of emission factors for particular locations or vehicle categories.
- Non-exhaust emissions, particularly in light of the emergence of heavy electric vehicles.
- Comparison of emission factors obtained from various measurement methodologies.
