Dear Colleagues,
Green cleaning procedures for works of art have recently been advocated in the investigate for more sustainable methodologies and materials to lower their influence on the conservator’s health and the environment. Many green solvents have applied as less unsafe cleaning agents to minimize the toxicity and other problems of some conventional solvents. In last years, the safety of both restorers and artworks during cleaning processes, has been the topic of many research works, pointed at the progress of gel-systems that limit the solvent action to the very surface thus avoiding its absorption into the paint layers and diminishing workers’ exposure.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
