Antimicrobial Therapy in Oral Diseases, 2nd Edition

This special issue belongs to the section “Antibiotic Therapy in Infectious Diseases“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Following the success of the first volume of the Special Issue “Antimicrobial Therapy in Oral Diseases”, we are pleased to announce the launch of this second edition. As a continuation of the Special Issue, this volume will focus on the clinical use of antibiotics and antiseptic products as replacements in antibiotherapy in dentistry, as well as showcasing in-depth research on antibiotic resistance in oral bacteria, the effects of antibiotics and antiseptics on oral cell behavior and oral healing, and new antimicrobial-based products for oral use. We particularly welcome clinical and preclinical studies on the use of antimicrobials in periodontal and peri-implant diseases.

The increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance among oral microorganisms further emphasizes the need for innovative therapeutic strategies and a deeper understanding of host–microbe interactions within the oral cavity.

Aging associated with increased life expectancy increases the frequency of certain oral pathologies of infectious etiology, and their association with a number of general diseases modifies host responses and therapeutic outcomes, complicating clinical and scientific analysis.

We welcome experimental and well-designed clinical studies addressing, but not limited to, the above-mentioned topics, especially multidisciplinary works.

We invite you to submit innovative and relevant research for consideration for this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Antibiotics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs).
