Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Global swine production is transitioning from a reliance on previous beliefs and practices to the use of novel strategies, and the constant need to improve feed ingredients and feeding strategies within the industry is an issue of significant interest. The necessity of achieving a high health status in pig production is undisputable, while the need to improve performance in intensive swine production is always a challenge. Therefore, significant research efforts are focusing on novel feed ingredients and additives, alternative raw feed materials with variable effects on swine health and performance, and the gradual implementation of smart technologies and precision livestock farming principles in swine production.
This Special Issue aims to promote original research articles on in vivo and in vitro studies, as well as reviews, covering novel findings on the following:
- Novel feeding strategies, including the use of precision livestock farming technologies in swine production and smart technologies focusing on pig nutrition and feeding, with an emphasis on their effects on swine health and performance.
- Novel feed ingredients and additives which could mitigate health and productivity threats to swine, with evidence of antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory or similar properties in swine.
We welcome the submission of papers on these topics and look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agriculture is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
