Dear Colleagues,
In vitro propagation or micropropagation is a biotechnological technique that enables the increased production of propagules from various crops of agroalimentary, agroindustrial, ornamental, and medicinal interest. However, sophisticated in vitro regeneration techniques are required to achieve the mass propagation of these plant species within a reduced timeframe and limited space. To address this, innovative technological advancements are being employed, including temporary immersion systems, the use of cutting-edge substances such as biostimulants or nanoparticles, and the optimization of plant growth regulator (PGR) types and concentrations. Additionally, biotechnological techniques are being developed to enhance these plant propagation systems.
This Special Issue aims to unveil innovative strategies in plant micropropagation that are efficient and sustainable for obtaining horticultural crop propagules. It will also cover the biotechnological approaches that can be used to improve these processes. This Special Issue will include interdisciplinary and biotechnological studies focused on improving in vitro propagation processes and developing methodologies for conservation, food security, and sustainable agriculture. We invite the submission of original research articles, opinions, and reviews.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Agriculture is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
