Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Meeting the high demand for livestock products requires efficient management of production systems and, implicitly, the use of appropriate nutritional strategies that lead to increased and good quality production. Livestock products must not only be sources of nutrients but also sources of bioactive substances that contribute to maintaining the optimal health of consumers. Given that animal nutrition plays a key role in their production, I believe that it is important to adopt new strategies in animal nutrition to meet demand but also to ensure a sustainable balance between productivity, quality of livestock products, human safety and environmental sustainability. Currently, there is a high interest among researchers in improving the quality of livestock products; improving animal health and welfare; identifying new sources of animal feed; finding optimal nutritional solutions in the context of climate change and reducing the impact of animals on environmental pollution.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent advances related to interdisciplinary studies on livestock management strategies, farm animal nutrition, feeding and production technologies under normal and extreme physiology, biology, biochemistry, environmental and behavioral conditions. We consider contributions addressing a wide range of research in the livestock field, on strategies for the correct management of farm activities; the quality of productions obtained, animal welfare and health; the quality of feed raw materials and the optimization of animal production processes. This issue aims to provide applicable and transferable scientific and technical solutions, designed to improve the performance level and the degree of sustainability of livestock farms by applying the principles of circular agroeconomics, in order to obtain safe and quality animal products, adapted to the consumer with a modern lifestyle.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
Impact of animal nutrition and feeding on the quality of animal products
Ruminants’ nutrition and impact on their products quality
Monogastric nutrition and impact on their product quality
Feed additives as strategic levers in producing high quality food
Sustainable feeding strategies
Usage of alternative feedstuffs in a sustainable manner
Nutritional optimization, cost and environment oriented
Circular bioeconomy principles in animal nutrition
Nutritional and feeding strategies for a sustainable environment
Tuning of designer foods quality via animal feeding strategies
Producing sanogenic foods using trustworthy animal nutrition principles

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agriculture is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
