Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on people and the economy worldwide. It has changed the way we consume all categories of goods and services and the way business will be done in the future. Many of us have started doubting the efficacy of the classic way of strategists’ thinking regarding sustainable development. Dealing with new and recurring disruptive events that lie outside of classical strategists’ frameworks will be a way of going forward.

We encourage contributions from Strategy, Marketing and Management with international and/or corporate governance perspectives. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  1. Initiating social security protocols to help organizations navigate challenges.
  2. Business process reengineering to deal with unknown territory.
  3. Fitting business operations into the “work-from-home” category.
  4. Building digital retail and omnichannel strategies and capabilities for surviving and thriving after the pandemic.
  5. Developing rapid scenario analysis capability.
  6. Evolving to meet the challenge of the next global crisis.
  7. The global revaluation and protection of the care economy.
  8. Will the coronavirus reverse globalization?
  9. Will this new global challenge result in changes to human resource management policies and practices? Will HRM become more oriented toward the common good?

In the above context, this Special Issue thus calls for empirical and/or conceptual scientific papers and case studies that investigate the strategic priorities for a post-pandemic world for taking the bumpy road to a more sustainable future.
The current Special Issue is directly linked with the upcoming “International Business, Innovation & Governance: Shaping the Futures of Smart Economy” on December 4th 2020, Hong Kong (for more information, see: http://www.ouhk.edu.hk/iibg2020symposium/). This year, the conference will be conducted online/virtually on December 4th. We welcome submissions to the Special Issue from scholars around the world and will present their papers online. We encourage authors considering submitting a paper to this Special Issue to join us for this conference.
For more information on the submission guidelines for the conference, see http://www.ouhk.edu.hk/iibg2020symposium/.
