Italian Society of Phytotherapy (S.I.Fit.)

The Italian Society of Phytotherapy (Società italiana di Fitoterapia, S.I.Fit.) was founded in Siena in 1992, with the original aim being to move the research and knowledge of medicinal plants towards evidence-based phytotherapy. The Italian Society of Phytotherapy brings together many Italian medicinal plant researchers of different Italian and European Universities, as well as physicians, pharmacists and other specialists in the sector. S.I.Fit. promotes high quality scientific research on medicinal plants by supporting the work of SIFITLab, and by awarding grants to young researchers (Premio Monti and Premio Taddei). Every year, S.I.Fit. organizes the National Congress of Phytotherapy and the S.I.Fit. Young Reseachers Project (SYRP) Meeting.

Spanish Phytopathological Society (SEF)

The Spanish Phytopathological Society (SEF) is an association of professionals working in the field of plant pathology that aims:
  • to promote, facilitate, integrate and disseminate knowledge in the different areas of Plant Pathology;
  • to foster actions which enhance research and academic teaching in the field of Plant Pathology in Spain, as well as direct actions contributing to disease control;
  • to facilitate interactions among Spanish Plant Pathologists, as well as with experts from other related fields;
  • to establish relationships with allied societies from Spain or elsewhere.
The Spanish Phytopathological Society was established on September 24, 1981, at the VI Annual Meeting of the Specialized Group in Microbial Phytopathology of the Spanish Society of Microbiology. The SEF is formed by a diverse community of scientists that are interested in promoting a deeper knowledge of plant pathogens and the diseases they cause to finally adopt environmentally sustainable practices to ensure plant health.

Spanish Society of Horticultural Sciences (SECH)

The Spanish Society of Horticultural Sciences, SECH, is a nonprofit society that was created in 1981 aiming to generate scientific, technical and social interest in all branches of horticulture. A work that joins the responsibility of stimulating both scientific research and the necessary dissemination and training as a mean for the development of knowledge.

It is formed by more than 400 Scientifics, technicians, professional and business partners that develop their activity in Horticulture and Fruit culture research areas. It is organized in 13 Working Groups which are implied in numerous activities such as the organization of the National Congress and the Iberian Congress in collaboration with the Portuguese Horticultural Association.

Currently, several members of the SECH are in charge of international working groups from the International Society of Horticultural Sciences (ISHS) being, in some cases, the head of commissions or sections. This clearly reflects the level of research and international recognition of our Society. All these activities, performed since its foundation, have obtained a progressive integration of the SECH in the national and international scientific community.

Spanish Society of Plant Biology (SEBP)

The Spanish Society of Plant Biology (SEBP), a group of scientists working in Spain and abroad, attempts to understand how plants and other photosynthetic organisms function, and how they interact with their environment and their associated organisms. The SEBP welcomes scientists working at all levels, from genes and molecules to whole organisms and ecosystems, those applying their knowledge to agricultural improvement or the management of the environment, and those contributing to biotechnological developments. The SEBP is committed to the promotion of science and is a member of the Spanish Confederation of Scientific Societies (COSCE), the Global Plant Council (GPC), the European Federation of Plant Biology (FESPB), and the emerging Iberian–Latin American Federation for Plant Biology (FISBP).
