Journal of Clinical Medicine 2024 Editorial Board Meeting of the Section “Intensive Care” Held on 8 April 2024

The Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383) held an Editorial Board meeting for the Section “Intensive Care” on 8 April 2024. We appreciate the Section Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Karim Bendjelid, for hosting this meeting; five Editorial Board Members were in attendance. We would like to invite everyone to jointly review the content of this meeting. We are extremely grateful for the strong support from our Editorial Board Members. Meanwhile, we sincerely hope that more Editorial Board Members will be able to participate in future meetings.

The meeting started with a presentation about the development of the journal, as well as the Section “Intensive Care” in particular, and the following topics were discussed:

  • Journal history, open access policy, and author benefits;
  • Journal publication statistics and authors’ group analysis (2018–2023);
  • Journal awards, conference sponsorship, and journal social media management;
  • Section EBM overview, decision-making statistics, and Section development statistics.

At this Editorial Board meeting, the following areas were covered in the discussion:

  • Strategies for Improving the Impact Factor: The impact factors of the current 35 Sections (including the “Intensive Care” Section) need to be analyzed and accurate plans for development were made, including focusing on high-quality manuscripts, writing a year-in-review article, strengthening the preliminary examination process, and paying attention to the quality of peer review.
  • Development Plans for the “Intensive Care” Section: Our desire to actively participate in significant academic conferences and establish connections with relevant societies was expressed. In addition, consideration was given to diversifying the types of papers, attaching great importance to basic scientific research. In the ICU field, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, liver function, nutrition, and metabolism are very important; we should organize online expert conferences where authoritative experts in the industry are invited to discuss clinical issues, form consensus expert opinions, and compile them into high-quality papers.
  • Promotion and Other Suggestions: Editorial Board Members exchanged different promotion ideas, and some members agreed to promote the journal during academic conferences. It was suggested that we control the rationality of the number and composition of Editorial Board Members, which should be small and precise, covering various professional fields and regions.

We sincerely thank the Editorial Board Members for their active participation. Thanks to your participation, we could exchange views face-to-face and get timely feedback. Here, we sincerely thank every member for their hard work and academic support. We hope that more members will join us in the future, and we look forward to your valuable suggestions, as they push us to work together, continue to move towards a higher level of development, and make greater progress.
