We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Orazio Taglialatela-Scafati is appointed Editor-in-Chief of Marine Drugs (ISSN 1660-3397).
Orazio Taglialatela-Scafati is Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology at the Department of Pharmacy, University Federico II of Naples (Italy), where he has been a faculty member since 1999, after receiving his Ph.D. in 1997, under the supervision of the late Prof. E. Fattorusso.
His scientific interests focus on isolation, structural characterization, and semisynthetic modification of metabolites from both marine invertebrates and terrestrial plants, to be applied as lead compounds in drug discovery or as tools to investigate mode of actions and biochemistry. The natural products isolated by Taglialatela-Scafati laboratory are being examined for antiparasitic, anticancer, anti-inflammatory activities, as well as for modulation of cannabinoid receptors and TRP channels.

He has published nearly 170 peer-reviewed research papers, several book chapters, two international patents, and co-edited the “Handbook of Marine Natural Products” (Fattorusso, Gerwick, Taglialatela-Scafati; Springer, 2012), a two-volume handbook featuring the major themes of marine product chemistry and biology. Since 2014, prof. Taglialatela-Scafati has served as Associate Editor of Marine Drugs.
We warmly welcome Prof. Taglialatela-Scafati as Editor-in-Chief of Marine Drugs.
