Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.

To further enhance the quality of Metrics (ISSN: 3042-5042) and the papers published in it, under the guidance of our Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Manuel Pedro Rodríguez Bolívar, the journal has updated and revised its aims and scope. The original scope and the updated version are listed below:
Aims (new version): |
Aims (old version): |
The journal Metrics (ISSN 3042-5042) is dedicated to the publication of rigorous, high-quality research on the design of novel methodologies using quantitative data for a wide range of aspects of information science. The primary focus of the journal is comparative empirical studies that evaluate the differences between traditional and novel methodologies in the field of bibliometrics, scientometrics, informetrics, webometrics, patentometrics, altmetrics, and research evaluation. These comparative studies are especially welcome when solving informetric problems as applied to a wide variety of information across different fields. The journal actively promotes studies that facilitate the implementation of emerging technologies as enablers for novel methods in measuring quantitative aspects of information science. The journal is fully open access and has rigorous peer review procedures in place. Full details must be provided when publishing studies involving experiments so that the results can be reproduced. There is no restriction on the maximum length of the papers submitted to/published in the journal. |
The journal Metrics (ISSN 3042-5042) publishes rigorous high-quality research on quantitative aspects of information science. The main focus of the journal is on topics in bibliometrics, scientometrics, informetrics, webometrics, patentometrics, altmetrics and research evaluation. Contributions studying informetric problems using methods from other quantitative fields, such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics and econometrics, and network science, are especially encouraged. |
