Cover Story: The present volume contains all the conference abstracts presented at the IX Iberian Congress of Ichthyology, organized by the Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), and held in Porto, Portugal from 20 to 23 June 2022. The conference was attended by 135 participants (including staff), mainly from Portugal and Spain, presenting an overall of 139 communications, namely 6 keynote talks, 78 oral communications, and 55 posters distributed across 10 thematic areas. We wish to acknowledge all the members of the scientific committee that assisted us in ensuring the scientific quality of the submitted abstracts. We also want to acknowledge our sponsors who enabled the organization of this event, namely the Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida and Nautilus Oceanica SL.
