Cover Story: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) usually occurs in sun-exposed areas, whereas it is rarely observed in non-sun-exposed areas such as the genital region. We report two cases of BCC that occurred in the scrotum and histopathologically presented as intradermal nodules. BCC has a connection between tumor cell formation and the surface epidermis, and all previously reported scrotal BCCs have also shown continuity with the epidermis. However, both cases presented here lacked continuity with the epidermis, suggesting that these tumors originated within the dermis and may reflect the process by which a tumor arising within the dermis migrated toward the epidermis. We also discussed the origin of sacral basal cell carcinoma. View this paper
