The Evidence-Based Practice approach is based on the use of scientific research in decision-making in an effort to produce the best possible services in clinical practice. The knowledge level about effect size statistics and meta-analysis studies may affect the decision soft professionals and jeopardize the quality of psychological interventions. This paper presents the result so fan on-line survey on the degree of knowledge of these topics among Spanish practitioner psychologists. The sample consisted of 77 participants (68.8% women and 31.2% men), with a mean age of 41.44 years (SD=9.42), with age range of 25-64 years. The results suggest that most of the psychologists survey eddid not have adequate knowledge about effect size index, meta-analysis studies, or methodological quality checklists. It is therefore necessary to improve the statistical education of practitioner psychologists, which might also contribute to their provement of professional practice. Full article

Positive psychology aims to improve the quality of life and prevent the occurrence of mental disorders and pathologies. Focus of interest is prevention and thus avoid traditional and exclusive concern for repairing the negative aspects of life. It looks for the construction of positive qualities (Seligman and Csikszentmihalyi, 2000), in base of the positive psychological features we all have. The objective of this study is to improve the psychological strengths in early childhood education trought the use of activities. Sample is composed by 52 preschool students at 2nd cycle of Pre-primary Education in Caravaca de la Cruz, north west of Murcia (Spain). Strengths and psychological virtues were evaluated though the use of the Family Drawing Test (Corman, 1967), to assess if there were differences or improvements after the intervention. Full article

The aim of this study was to analyze ADHD diagnosed children´s process of copy, organization strategies and recall phase of Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure. This study corresponds to an ex post facto retrospective design with two groups, one quasi control. Seventy children between 8 and 14 years old were evaluated; 35 with ADHD and 35 without these diagnoses, paired by sex, age and instruction level. To reach the proposed objective, the process of copying, organizational strategies and memory of the Rey- Osterrieth Complex Figure were evaluated. The Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure is a test which consists of copying phase and posterior playing back memory phase of a complex geometric pattern. Results showed a lower yield for the group with ADHD both in copy and memory process, with greater use of C and D types of copy reproduction, being the use of type D expected for younger children. These results allow further analysis of the performance of children with ADHD regarding organizational strategies providing expertise in the conceptualization, evaluation and treatment of the disorder. Relationship between the use of humor and life satisfaction in Secondary School students

Secondary school students (N=1304) and 12-17 years old, were evaluated and mood styles and their satisfaction with life were analyzed. The results show a moderately satisfied with their lives teenagers and humor styles are used in this order: affiliative, self-improvement, aggressive and self-destructive. The life satisfaction correlated with positive styles of humor (affiliative and self-improvement) and inversely with the use of aggressive humor. Just a 25.85% of adolescents in the sample, make good use of humor (greater use of positive and less negative styles) and good levels of satisfaction with life. In addition, although men make more use of humor, both positive and negative, being a woman increases life satisfaction by 0.85 points from being male, being gender variable greater weight in predicting the score life satisfaction, self-improvement followed humor, aggressive humor and affiliative humor. In conclusion, stating that the research data provide a profile of moderately satisfied with his life teenagers, with greater use of the styles of positive humor, as well as evidence of the relationship between the use of humor and life satisfaction. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between sociometric types, behavioral categories, and intellectual abilities in a sample of 1349 (51.7% boys) Spanish adolescents, ranging in age from 12 to 16 years. The students' sociometric nomination was performed by the Programa Socio and academic self-concept was measured by the Primary Mental Abilities Test (PMA; Thurstone, 1938; TEA, 1996). The hypotheses of the study suggest, firstly, that students positively nominated by their peers will present significantly higher scores on different scales of the PMA than students negatively nominated by their peers and, secondly, that intellectual skills will be a predictor variable statistically significant of sociometric types and behavioral categories. Results show that students nominated positively obtained significantly higher scores on the different intellectual abilities that nominees negatively. Intellectual abilities were a significant predictor of sociometric types because with increasing the score on the different intellectual abilities students were more likely to be nominated by their peers positively.
