Cover Story: This study investigates the impact of co-sleeping on various dimensions of maternal and infant health. Specifically, it examines whether co-sleeping with infants aged 6–12 months affects (a) maternal complaints and sleep difficulties, (b) maternal mental health, (c) infant sleep patterns and maternal sleep quality, and (d) breastfeeding practices. Conducted as a cross-sectional study from July to November 2021, it involved 151 new mothers, categorized into those who co-slept with their infants from birth and those who did not. Findings reveal that co-sleeping is associated with poorer maternal and infant sleep quality and more frequent awakenings but shows no significant impact on maternal mental health. Additionally, co-sleeping is positively correlated with breastfeeding. View this paper
