Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1. Authors should add a few lines in the abstract and explain the importance and significance of the work with the results presented in the article.

2.  The entire figures in the article were of poor quality and the text was not readable. My recommendation to the authors is to redraw all figures in the article and ensure that figures are of good quality and readable.

3. It was difficult to relate different sections, hence my recommendation to authors is to add a few sentences at the end of the introduction listing sections. for example, section 2 explains......, section 3 illustrates..... and so on.

4. For a better understanding of readers authors should add a table of nomenclature and symbols used in the article.

5. Authors should rewrite the section of the conclusion and illustrate the importance and significance of the work carried out in the article, compare the results with existing literature highlighting potential applications and future scope.

This is an intriguing study on the attempt to bring a novelty to reducing the complexity of the network systems. The authors proposed a hybrid precoding structure, based on a switching network, to reduce the hardware complexity in the millimeter wave multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. The authors have shown the proposed model diminishes the limitation of having high-resolution phase shifters, to implement the hybrid precoding algorithm. However, the paper has some shortcomings regarding some results and study details. Here are my comments and suggestions.

-   -  In section 4, it is not obvious if the authors obtained the results only numerically or numerically as well as experimental work! the section title claims only simulation while lines 280 to 292 and figure 6 speak about the experimental results!

-   - If the obtained results in figure 6 are experimental, the author must provide a detailed configuration of the experimental work

-   - In line 294, what is the point of this sentence: using the structure of this paper, when the number of quantization bits of the first phase shifter is 3, the spectral efficiency of the  system is obviously better than that of the partially-connected structure

-  - In figure (6) a detailed explanation of the inset (zoom part) part of the figures, in each figure, must be provided, both in the text and the figure caption

--The conclusion section needs to improve.
